Born in Scotland in 1971, Ewan McGregor studied drama as a young man and scored his first substantial role in the 1994 British thriller “Shallow Grave”. The creative team behind that film cast him as Renton in 1996’s “Trainspotting,” which propelled the ambitious young actor to stardom and Hollywood roles in the “Star Wars” prequels and the 2001 war drama “Black Hawk Down”.
