Synopsis:  Travel back to ancient Rome in this gritty and unforgiving look at at a brutal time when legends were made. The complete first season includes all 12 episodes, beginning in 52 BC, as Gaius Julius Caesar completes his conquest of Gaul after eight years of war and prepares to return with his army to Rome. Caesar's impending return brings despair to the city's ruling patricians, who fear his homecoming will disrupt the status quo and threaten the extravagant prosperity they've enjoyed at the expense of the lower class. The critically acclaimed series also takes a look at the more human side of life in the ancient city, focusing on love and tragedies found in the lives of both higher and lower classes of Roman society.
