Viktor Navorski is a man fleeing the war that ravages his tiny Eastern European country. Landing in New York City at the moment of the war causes his nation to no longer exist, making his passport invalid. As a man without a home, he takes up residence in the terminal itself. He befriends the staff of the airport and falls in love with an airline flight attendant.
